Creation Myth – The Great Experiment

It did not take long for Prithvi to recognize that the flexible compounds the seeds contained were unlike anything she had seen. Inspired by a new medium with which to work, she once again began creating with passion and enthusiasm.

The outcomes of her initial attempts were nothing more than single-celled creatures but, seeing their potential, she was pleased. Infused with the creative intention of the Law, Prithvi rested and watched as these single cells began communicating with each other, gathering and bonding together to form increasingly complex communities. These communities fed on the abundance of gases present in her atmosphere and released a compound which Prithvi instinctively knew could be used to give rise to and sustain increasingly complex life.

She spent the next interlude actively creating, always allowing the Law to guide her. In an act of true inspiration, Prithvi lit up with the idea of creating life that did not receive its energy directly from the Light around which she traveled but rather gathered it in a secondary manner by ingesting the multi-celled creatures that did. The result was an explosion of life in a dizzying array of shapes and forms. So vast and varied was her body of work that Prithvi could not help but be pleased.

With the majority of her surface covered in liquid, there was plenty of space for her new creations to spread out and flourish. She was not attached to one over the other and gave no special attention or favoritism. All that she created was infused with the Law which allowed it to adapt and move toward increasingly efficient ways of living, with reproduction ranking highest among its goals.

It was at this point when Prithvi rested once again. Turning her attention outward, she noted that her neighbors appeared to be devoid of life. This perplexed her. The one closest to her Star was a charred mass, but recently the rocky body next to that showed promise, having basins full of liquid. It must have received the icy projectiles as she had. Why had it not utilized the same building blocks?

She was jolted from this thought by a wave of energy so powerful it blasted away her protective shield, and her surface was once again exposed to the full extent and range of her Star’s rays. With her characteristic resiliency, Prithvi rebounded from the destruction. She took the cleared slate as an opportunity to experiment.

Much of the life in her liquid basins, unable to withstand the onslaught of noxious light, perished. But she noted some survived. Although Prithvi did not play favorites, one particular creature caught her attention. It had a long body fringed by a multitude of opposing legs and a hard exterior shell. It moved with tremendous efficiency through the water along the bottom of the basin. In a period of relative tranquility, life continued to develop and diversify, filling every crevasse and thriving at every depth of the vast watery world. Then one day, divinely inspired by the Law, life made small, tentative movements towards the shallow portions of water that lapped at the rocky outcrops of Prithvi’s surface.
